US$3 trillion Sovereign Wealth Funds -- What's Next?

Jame DiBiasio
Founding Editor, AsianInvestor

Trade & Investment Committee

Sovereign wealth funds are estimated to control as much as US$3 trillion as of September 2007. When China's CIC took a stake in Blackstone Group and Morgan Stanley or when Abu Dhabi Investment Authority took a stake in Citigroup, many asked:

  • Are the Sovereign Wealth Funds political and security risks? Or are they a godsend for national resources-dependent countries?
  • Do the Sovereign Wealth Funds have a sophisticated governance?

  • Mr. Jame DiBiasio, founding editor of AsianInvestor magazine and its website, will share his insights during this luncheon event. From 1995-2000 Jame was a journalist at Institutional Investor newsletters, first in New York, and eventually serving as its Hong Kong bureau chief. He holds an MA from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Service and a BA from The American University. AsianInvestor www.asianinvestor.net is a Hong Kong-based publication, established in 2000, covers the asset-management industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
