True Cost of Bad Air

Billions of dollars are spent each year on air pollution related illnesses and health and community cost are even higher in the Pearl River Delta than in Hong Kong. New research, not yet presented to the public, regarding the health effects of air pollution in Southern China will be presented during this luncheon by leading public health experts and air quality scientists during this luncheon event. These findings support previous estimates of potential health gains and avoidable costs through air quality improvement from Hong Kong's current average levels to those commensurate with WHO guidelines. Policy recommendations that can make a positive contribution to improving air quality will also be included in the presentation.
