The seminar will focus on estate and trust planning for US citizens and green card holders and related tax issues, including changes to US tax laws that affect the estate planning of most US taxpayers.
Topics to be covered:
- An overview of US estate and gift tax rules
- Factors to be considered in developing an estate plan
- Special planning considerations for US taxpayers who live abroad
- Planning for the “multi-jurisdictional” family – what should be considered when one spouse is not a US citizen, or when children are US taxpayers but parents are not
- When a durable power of attorney and a health care directive can be useful
- Use of life insurance in estate planning
- Expatriation – is it an estate planning tool?
Mr. Rademacher advises on US and international tax and succession planning for individuals, trusts, estates, corporations and partnerships.
