In a "flat world", success is less about what the company can do itself and more about what it can connect to. Base on its very own "network orchestration" principles, Li & Fung has provided effective platforms that facilitate interactions with the partners within their value systems. During the luncheon event, Dr. Fung and Dr. Wind will reveal the secrets to running a successful organization. Key topics include:
* Compete "network vs. network" -- and win! * Create a "big-small" company that combines scales and agility * Forge loose-tight relationships with suppliers * Balance control with empowerment, stability with renewal * Manage the "bumps" in the flat world-from politics to terrorism
Dr. William Fung, has been Li & Fung Group Managing Director since 1986. He joined the Group in 1972 and became a Director of the Group's export trading business in 1976. Dr. Fung is also a non-executive director of HSBC Holdings PLC. An independent non-executive director of VTech Holdings Limited and Shui On Land Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Princeton University and a MBA from Harvard University. Dr. Fung's degree of Doctor in Business Administration, honoris causa, was conferred by the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
Dr. Yoram (Jerry) Wind is The Lauder Professor, Professor of Marketing, Founding Editor of Wharton School Publishing, and Academic Director of The Wharton Fellows Network at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the Founder and Director of the SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management, The Wharton School's think tank.
