The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (AmCham) Charitable Foundation was established in 1985 and is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of the past chairmen of AmCham who are resident in Hong Kong. The Foundation's overall aims and objectives are to raise funds and contribute to educational, training and other charitable projects which will promote its charitable objectives and at the same time have a long-reaching and therefore beneficial effect on the recipients.
In recent years, the Foundation has placed increasing emphasis on educational projects in Hong Kong in order to demonstrate its long-term commitment to the Hong Kong community. The AmCham Charitable Foundation is a registered charitable organization and as such enjoys tax exemption status. All contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. The Board of Trustees is empowered to invest the Foundation's trust fund and utilizes only the accrued interest of the fund to support Foundation programs.
