Membership Application

  • How do I apply for membership?
Complete the membership application form and return it with a check for the joining fee (if applicable) and/or annual dues. Online registration through the website is now available, or AmCham will fax/mail an application form upon request.

  • How long does the application process take?
Immediately upon receipt of your application and payment, you are eligible to participate in Committees, and attend AmCham events at member rates. Following official approval by the AmCham Board of Governors at their next monthly meeting, you will receive your membership card and a copy of the Members Directory.

  • Is there a corporate membership?
No. All AmCham members join as individuals, but there are different types of membership at different rates.

  • Who can join AmCham? Do you have to be American or work for an American company?
Membership is open to all companies and individuals who subscribe to the objectives of AmCham.
People of all nationalities, from any sector or organization - corporate executives, entrepreneurs, government representatives, educators, students, and individuals - may join AmCham. American citizenship is not a requirement. Members are not required to reside in Hong Kong.

Committees

  • Can anyone join a committee?
Participation in committees is limited to AmCham members only, because the committees serve as the voice of AmCham. Committees help define Chamber positions on key issues as well as develop Chamber programs. At the discretion of the Committee Chair, members may invite a guest to a committee meeting if they feel the guest might then become interested in joining the Chamber.

  • How do I sign up for a committee? Does it cost extra?
Participation in committees is a benefit of AmCham membership. There is no extra fee or separate application process. To sign up, tick your committee interests on the AmCham Membership application form, or contact Queenie Li, our Member Relations Manager: (852)2530-6923 or This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

  • I signed up for some committees, but am not receiving notices. How can I get on the mailing list?
Send an e-mail to Queenie Li, our Member Relations Manager: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . She will check your committee membership status and ensure that you are added to the mailing list.

Membership Communications

  • Why do I get so many faxes?
AmCham organizes over 200 events per year, attracting some 20,000 people. In addition, we have over 20 active committees that meet regularly. In order to keep our members informed of our activities, we send weekly notices notifying them of upcoming programs, events and meetings. We have recently updated our membership system and will now send some notices through e-mail. The website is also a good resource, with notices about the current day events and upcoming programs regularly updated. These changes will allow us to send out fewer faxes.

Membership Contest

  • What is the Membership Contest, and how do I participate?
The Membership Contest runs throughout the year. Each time you propose a candidate for membership and they join, you get points. Points are tallied at the end of each quarter, and the member with the most number of points wins a prize. It is easy! At the end of the year, the total cumulative points will be tallied, and the people with the most number of points win prizes.

Winning has never been easier. Simply send us a copy of the business card or contact information of a prospective member, and we will do the rest.
