AmCham's New Book: Doing Business in Hong Kong - Your Guide to Establishing an Office PDF Print E-mail

Media Release – January 15, 2008

The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong has released its annual resource book: Doing Business in Hong Kong – Your Guide to Establishing an Office, which is simultaneously published in website format.

The book is a definitive reference tool about setting up a business in Hong Kong that has become a standard desk-top tool since first published, in 1986.

Supplementary information to most chapters of the book can be found in the AmCham's website edition at: www.amcham.org.hk.

AmCham Communications Director and the book's chief editor, Fred Armentrout, explained that adding an online component enables more updated information to be made available after publication of the hard copies, and it lowers the printing cost by keeping extensive supplemental information on the website.

"Adding online sections to chapters in print allows us to add much more information in the online supplements and offers the book's advertising and listing supporters double exposures and a much wider audience, " he said. The monthly hit rate of AmCham website has reached 600,000. "It has also enabled us to actually bring the list price of the printed book down by 37% since we first started the paired print and website publishing program last year," adds Armentrout.

A total of 1,129 Hong Kong websites can be found in the book, which contains 27 descriptive sections under five main categories, plus informative appendices, web supplements, and index sections.

"This edition includes much useful information in the appendices section, from business service groups, lists of banks, Hong Kong listed companies to environmental organizations and women related organizations," said Armentrout.

There is no more comprehensive or practical guide to doing business in Hong Kong than this one, said Armentrout, and AmCham means to keep it that way.

Doing business in Hong Kong – Your Guide to Establishing an Office has 272 full color pages, price at $180, down from $285 the previous year.

The book is available for purchase by mail, in person at AmCham's reception desk and on its website www.amcham.org.hk. To order directly, please contact Ms Hanna Chung on 2530 6934.
