Media Release - March 25, 2008
Around 900 distinguished guests enjoyed a classic evening of glamour and silver-screen sophistication, at the annual black-tie ball of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong last Saturday (March 15, 2008), at the Convention Hall of Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center, Wanchai. It was a dazzling evening with amazing entertainment and incredible prizes, as the guests danced the night away to great music, bathing in the glow of the Hollywood Golden Years. The Bruce Garnitz Band, originally from Chicago, set the mood of celebration with classic swing music, blues and jazz, salsa, oldies, Top 40 and disco. Sexy dancers and an array of talented musicians filled the dance floor atmosphere with fun and excitement. Raffle tickets were sold during the event to raise funds for the AmCham Charitable Foundation. By close of sale of raffle tickets at about 10pm, the Chamber raised HK$143,200 for charitable causes. Raffle prizes were drawn later that night. The winning list has been posted on the AmCham website ( http://www.amcham.org.hk/content/view/5721/538/#Details) and will be published in Sing Tao Daily and The Standard on March 25 and March 26 respectively. In his welcoming remarks, AmCham Chairman Steve DeKrey said for four decades, the Chamber has celebrated partnership, community spirit and a belief in the power of volunteerism - as well as in hard work and open commerce. “We are a proud organization dedicated to improving the business of our membership but for tonight we take time to celebrate,” he said, “this evening we'd like to cast you all in starring roles as we proudly present to you the Hollywood Golden Years!” Tickets for the Ball were sold out well before the event.
