China is fast becoming the competitive battlefield on which global winners are determined. An increasing number of Chinese companies are moving towards a dominating position in some segments. What are the global implications of the enormous economies of scale in the attractive China market? How do MNCs respond to the local competition?

Hellmut Schütte, Distinguished Professor of International Management, Vice President and Dean, CEIBS

Professor Hellmut Schütte is Distinguished Professor of International Management, Vice President and Dean at CEIBS since February 2013. He officially joined CEIBS in September 2009 as Distinguished Professor of Management and European Chair for Sino-European Business Relations. He is particularly interested in aspects of business competition in China and other BRICs.

He is also Emeritus Professor of International Management at INSEAD whose faculty he joined in Fontainebleau, France, in 1981 after a career in the areas of marketing and investment banking. He teaches and does research in the area of international business with a special focus on Asia and Emerging Markets. Professor Schütte studied economics and business administration in Germany and obtained his doctorate from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. For 11 years he worked as executive in the area of marketing and investment banking. During his academic career at INSEAD, he was visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, visiting professor at Boston University, and visiting scholar at Harvard University. Up to the fall of 2006, Professor Schütte was the Dean of INSEAD’s fast growing Asia Campus located in Singapore.

China is Professor Schütte’s tenth country in which he lives and works. He has taught in seminars in another 40 countries all over the world. He is a well-known speaker in conferences and business meetings, a regular contributor to the World Economic Forum in Davos and other places in the world, and actively involved in various executive programmes, board and advisory roles and consulting assignments. Among others, he is an Executive Director and Partner of BAF Spectrum, a business angel firm that invests in young enterprises.

Professor Schütte is the author of many articles and nine books, among them the best-seller ‘Strategies for Asia Pacific’ (co-authored with P. Lasserre).

* Presentation materials will be distributed to MEMBER ATTENDEES only.

* To ensure that we capture all your online registrations on time before the event, the online booking system will be deactivated 48 hours prior to the event

* An email confirmation will be sent to the registered participant's email. Online bookings will generate an automated confirmation via e-mail.

* Membership is on an individual basis. Non-members can only attend at non-member price.

* All cancellations must be notified in writing at least two working days prior to the event, or six working days prior to the conference. No-shows will be charged.

* Faxed or mailed booking forms received without payment (check/cash) will be considered void, unless valid credit card details are given as guarantee.

* When Typhoon 8 (or above) or Black Rainstorm Signal is hoisted, all events will be cancelled.
