The DeMint Bill: the Prospects of Legislation to Reverse "the Expat Tax"
David Cuddy
Legislative Assistant, U.S.Senator Jim DeMint's office, Washington, DC

Tuesday, August 15, 2006 Joint Event with Democrats Abroad HK, Republicans Abroad HK and American Women's Association
David Cuddy, Legislative Assistant to Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) will address AmCham members and Hong Kong's American community about prospects for advancement of draft legislation now before Congress to increase "Section 911" exclusions over the so-called "Expat Tax."

The newly introduced DeMint bill would increase the "Section 911" exclusions for Americans working overseas and rectify the changes made to the exclusions by Congress this spring 2006 and signed into law retroactive to January 2006. Mr. Cuddy will discuss the elements of and prospects for Sen. DeMint's draft legislation during this legislative session.

This non-partisan event is opened to all interested parties and is part of a series of AmCham events aimed at increasing the American community's understanding of the recent changes to the tax code and the implications to American businesses, expats and the entire American community in Hong Kong.
