China's comprehensive new Labor Contract Law will take effect on January 1, 2008, after undergoing three revisions following thousands of comments on the first draft. Please join members of our Law and HR committees for a discussion on how the Labor Contract Law will affect your business and how to best prepare for it. Our speakers will discuss the law's impact on HR systems, as well as collective labor issues and structuring employment contracts under the law. We will focus on how HR professionals, both outside advisors and in-house, are dealing with the practical issues thrown up by the new law. How are multi-nationals responding to conform their existing HR policies, contracts, forms, and etc. to the changes implemented by the law? What changes in employee consultative procedures must follow? What changes to fixed contract processes?
Andreas Lauffs of Baker & McKenzie will outline the elements of the new law. Dr. Lauffs advises on all types of employment and labor union matters and has negotiated with Chinese labor bureau officials and represented MNCs merging with or acquiring Chinese companies, and provides advice on executive transfer, benefits, social insurance and employment litigation/arbitration.
Joseph Yip of Watson Wyatt Beijing will outline his firms' advice to clients about implementing the new law, particularly on the nitty-gritty points that Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprises are facing. Joseph advises Watson Wyatt clients on all matters relating to employee benefit programs including benefit programs alignment and design, asset/ liability modelling, provider selection, staff communication and actuarial valuations.
AmCham has applied to the Law Society for CPD accreditation and will advise ASAP of result. |
