With over three decades of publishing experience in China, Fortune China magazine Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Tom Gorman will share anecdotes and his analysis of the trends underlying and driving the provision and consumption of business information in China. His armchair chat with The Wall Street Journal Asia's editorial page editor Mary Kissel will focus particularly on the evolution of the print media market on the mainland, drawing on his broad experience in the sector. Tom, who chaired AmCham Hong Kong in 1995, will also share his observations of Hong Kong's ever-changing role as a staging point for business across the border.

Tom Gorman began studying the Chinese language in secondary school in suburban Chicago in the mid-1960s. He earned a degree in East Asian Studies from Princeton University and arrived in Hong Kong as an aspiring young journalist in 1974. He co-founded his publishing company, CCI Asia-Pacific Ltd., in Hong Kong, in 1975 with an eye towards China's eventual opening to the outside world. Tom's company launched Fortune China in 1996 under license from Time Inc.

Mary Kissel is editor of The Wall Street Journal Asia's editorial page, where she contributes regularly to the Journal's signed and unsigned commentary on the region. Previously, she worked for Goldman Sachs, an investment bank, in New York and London. Ms. Kissel has a master's degree in international affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a bachelor's in government from Harvard University.
