    Dr Richard Vuylsteke

    Richard R. Vuylsteke has been president of AmCham Hong Kong since February 2008. For nine years, prior to his current position, he served as president of AmCham Taipei, Taiwan’s largest and most active foreign business organization. At both chambers Richard was tasked with overall responsibility for chamber operations, including programmatic, briefing, advocacy, and other membership and community services.

    Richard has spent more than 40 years in Asia and China-related fields of study and employment. He has been a Fulbright Scholar in India, a research fellow at Harvard Law School, assistant director of an Asia-Pacific think tank, and special assistant to the president of the East-West Center. For 12 years, he taught courses in Asian history and social, political & legal philosophy, primarily at the University of Hawaii.

    During more than two decades of residence in Taiwan, Richard taught for 4 years at the U.S. Foreign Service Institute School, served 12 years as senior editor of an English-language magazine focused on Taiwan, and wrote extensively for publications based in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the United States. He also spent one year at Taipei American School writing a history of the 50-year-old institution (Ties That Bind, published in February 2000).

    Richard earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Hawaii, specializing in Western and Chinese political philosophy.

    Pearly Mak joined the Chamber as Accounting Manager in May 2005. Pearly has about 10 years' experience in the field of accounting and finance, with extensive exposure to special assignments when she worked in KPMG and Warner-Lambert. She also has accounting and administration experience in a not-for-profit organisation, the Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries, and entrepreneurial experience for two years before joining the Chamber. Pearly has a Bachelors in Business Administration - Accounting from Hong Kong Baptist University and is a CPA of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

    Carol Wang is Events & Business Development Director at AmCham, a department set up to identify new growth areas for AmCham and to help AmCham enhance its value to our members' . Events & Business Development helps AmCham to create new partnerships with local and international groups that benefit our members, and to explore new events and programs to provide value to those partnerships.

    Carol is responsible for developing, implementing, executing, and evaluating the events and program strategies that focus on building brand awareness and satisfying members' needs. She is also responsible for member relations development the overall branding and marketing of AmCham.

    Carol has a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MA in Business Administration from US universities. She is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English (with considerable knowledge of German), and has been at AmCham for over two years. Before coming to Hong Kong, Carol worked in Shanghai and the U.S. with an international semiconductor manufacturer.

    Jin-ah Lee

    Jin-ah Lee is responsible for member development programs, strategic marketing and the CRM database management at AmCham. Her specialty is development of print and web marketing materials, external partnership management, and sponsorship promotional materials. Jin-ah Lee joined AmCham as Assistant Membership Manager in 2006. Prior to living in Hong Kong, Jin-ah has worked in Chicago for a children's summer residential program and on restaurant management projects, including the Paris Casino in Las Vegas and Krispy Kreme in Seattle, WA. Jin-ah has a BA in Communications with a minor in Psychology from University of Minnesota.

    Queenie Li was promoted to the present position of Member Relations Manager in March 2008. She joined AmCham as Membership/Accounting Assistant in 1980, promoted to Membership Coordinator in 1986, in support of the Membership Committee. She was promoted to Membership Supervisor in 1988 and served as Assistant Membership Manager from 2005. She handles all enquiries regarding membership matters, processes applications and produces reports on movements of members.

    Stephanie Chu joined AmCham's events team in September 2005, to assist in delivering quality programs that address the most pressing commerce-related issues between the US and Hong Kong/China. Stephanie's past work environments included Honeywell Sensing & Control in the US, Global Sources in Hong Kong, and various publications in the US, Canada, and France. A native of France, she spent much of her childhood in Bangkok, and later returned to Paris to complete her high school baccalaureate. Stephanie holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from University of Wisconsin at Madison.

    Sonia Li has served as an Events Manager since 2005. She works on planning, organization, and coordination of business meetings and functions, as well as other special programs such as golf activities, events publicity, on-site registration and financial accounting. She has previously worked as AmCham’s Programs Coordinator and was promoted to Programs Supervisor in 1989. She had years of accounting and administration experience in a French company prior to joining AmCham.

    Mimi Shih

    Mimi Shih has been an Events Manager since 2005. During her 20-plus years at the AmCham, Mimi has been promoted from a secretarial to a supervisory position and has worked in the programs, conferences and seminars departments, as well as on the annual ball. She is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Chamber’s speaker programs, conferences and seminars, including training workshops and executive education programs. Prior to joining AmCham, she worked at Bank of America, First National Bank of Boston and the Saskatchewan Medical Care Insurance Commission in Canada. Mimi was educated in Hong Kong and at the Saskatchewan Technical Institute.

    Christy Li manages the events registration process for all Chamber functions. She is also responsible for providing on-site logistical support to all programs and events. Christy has a BBA in Finance from Hong Kong Baptist University.

    Mark Wong
    Public Affairs Manager

    Mark Wong has been with AmCham over seven years and manages a diverse public affairs portfolio. He works in close support of AmCham’s leaders and Board of Governors in their process of formulating public policies and position papers, as well as building good government and community relations for AmCham. Mark liaises with outside consultants on major research and survey projects, such as the Chamber’s annual Business Outlook and Environmental surveys, and generating reports that reflect our members’ views on important issues affecting businesses in Hong Kong and the region. As Secretary to the AmCham Charitable Foundation, Mark works with its independent Board of Trustees in coordinating annual charitable programs that generally focus on education, community services, fostering good corporate citizenship, and other ad-hoc projects. Mark has a BA in Political Science from University of British Columbia, with an emphasis on international relations and political economies in East Asia.

    Della Lo
    China Affairs Manager

    Della Lo has rejoined the Chamber from June 2009 to reactivate AmCham’s China business agenda and reinforce its China initiatives. During the three years time she was away from the Chamber, she served as Office Manager for the Chinese Business Association in Toronto and executed her own ChinaBoundBiz consulting services for foreign companies entering the China Market.

    Della Lo’s previous experience with AmCham Hong Kong started from April 1998 as Senior Public Relations Officer serving community relations and the Chamber’s Charitable Foundation. She was promoted China Desk Manager in June 2000 looking after Chamber’s relations with and exposure to the Chinese Central, Provincial and Municipal Governments and various Chinese business organizations. Within her eight years (1998-2006) in the Chamber, she conducted research on China economic development policies, monitored trade and investment opportunities in Greater China. She also organized the Chamber’s annual Beijing Doorknock and all trade missions. In addition, Della Lo translated most Chamber position papers and documents and interprets for the President and Board members in meetings with Chinese counterparts.

    Della Lo was also contracted from 2000-2004 with the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington being their Asia Representative involving secretariat work and presence to various International and Global events such APEC CEO summit in Shanghai and APEC Ministerial Meeting in Hong Kong. Before joining the Chamber, Della Lo was Senior Information and Culture Specialist with the US Consulate General in Guangzhou from 1991-1998

    Daniel Kwan

    Daniel Kwan is the Editor-in-Chief of the Chamber. He is in charge of the publication section which produces a number of publications including the monthly AmCham magazine. The journal serves as a window on the Chamber and plays a key role in its communication strategy. Apart from members’ news, it covers business news, market trends and social issues of special interest to chamber members. In addition, interviews of government and business leaders are also regular features of the magazine.

    Daniel graduated from the York University in Toronto with a BA degree and later obtained an EMBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Daniel has been a China journalist for 20 years. He was with the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong before he joined the Chamber in November 2008. He has also taught news translation courses at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English

    Regina Leung is responsible for maintaining, growing and expanding advertising client bases and sales revenue for AmCham media. She also investigates clients’ business needs and provides them with integrated media solutions. AmCham publishes a monthly magazine, Members Directory, China Business Directory, Living in Hong Kong and Doing business in Hong Kong handbooks, as well as online advertising at its website and advertising banners in the electronic newsletter. Regina has had advertising sales and management experience in print and electronic media for over 15 years, particularly in the regions of Asia Pacific, Hong Kong and Mainland China. Before joining AmCham in January 2008, she had worked with China Daily Hong Kong Ltd, Sina.com Hong Kong and Global Sources.

    Kenny Lau joined AmCham in March 2007, as Editorial and Listing Sales Assistant. He was promoted to Assistant Editor of AmCham's monthly magazine in the same year, for which he is also a photographer. Kenny is also responsible for listing enhancement sales in some of AmCham's annual publications. He previous worked for United Airlines at the Hong Kong International Airport and holds a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
