AmCham China Affairs Department is an executive workforce designated to plan and implement AmCham’s China Agenda. The Agenda is structured to be an “overall” program for the Chamber, spearheaded by the China Business Committee with assistance from selected Board members and integrated with the Events Department, the Publication Department, and the other AmCham Committees. The program includes HK- and China-based (either English or Chinese or both) delegations, outreach meetings, Chamber-wide events and business briefings, etc.

Goals:
· To enhance members’ customer/client base by widely and effectively informing members more information about the business policies, opportunities and developments undertaken by governmental organizations and private businesses.
· To interface professional services providers in Hong Kong and Mainland China with those Chinese SMEs which are planning to invest abroad (B2B services).
· To reinforce Hong Kong as a “gateway to China” and also as a “gateway out of China.”
· To expand AmCham’s business network by recruiting new members from companies seeking to provide professional services to China business firms, and from China companies which want to go global.

香港美國商會中國事務部主要負責計劃及執行美商會的中國議程。在中國商務委員會及數名經挑選的董事會成員領導下,中國事務部與活動部、出版部以及美商會的其他商務委員會攜手合作,為實施商會的中國議程安排一系列的項目。 這些項目主要以英文、中文或中英雙語進行,當中包括在香港、中國大陸區域以及更大範圍內組織商務代表團、外展會議、商會大型活動以及商務專題簡報會等。

目標
· 透過經常性的通報,令會員進一步瞭解各中國政府部門和企業的經濟政策、發展方向與商業機會,藉此幫助商會會員擴充客戶群;
· 為有意向國外投資的中國中小企與美商會相關專業服務的會員公司提供溝通橋樑,建立商務關係 (B2B 服務);
· 推動香港在充當單向「外資進入中國的大門」的同時成為「中資走向外國的大門」的雙向門戶角色;
· 通過廣泛吸納中資公司及欲建立中美商貿關係的外資公司為新會員,擴大商會的中外商群網絡。

Provides investment information about Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Beijing. Includes investment news and procedures, suggested projects, and laws and regulations one should know before starting a business in Beijing. In Chinese & English.

China Business Review
Magazine of the U.S.-Business Council, published since 1974. Website provides reports on the latest U.S.-China trade issues. Paid subscription is required for receiving printed version and reading online version, but web site articles, strangely enough, can be accessed free of charge. Special reports can be ordered via regular mail. In English only.

Its business section has extensive links to resources to trade shows, e-magazines, employment opportunities, and is home to the magazine Business Beijing Online. China Charity Online
If you are looking to donate to any of the various charities in China, this is the place to go. It has information on the different charities, pages on which you donate to the charities and a list of previous donators. In Chinese & English.

ChinaInfo
Essentially an extensive listing of Chinese companies. Provides directories on Chinese businesses operating in the world market, as well as on domestic companies. Materials are available online, or can be downloaded or ordered on CD-ROM. Pre-release (testing) software versions are free. Also features an online bulletin where listed companies can post information on their upcoming events as well as promote their products & services. In English only.

CHINAMARKET
Website focussed on business in China. It has information on business news, exhibitions and fairs in China, International Competitive Bidding recourses, investment news and guidelines, China laws and regulations, recommended enterprises and information on products made in China. There is also extensive information on the different regions of China. In English and Chinese.

China National Light Industry
The website helps one get involved in the China industrial business community. It has information on all China industries and how to contact businesses in China. In Chinese and English.

China New Energy
Provides extensive information on renewable sources of energy in China and news on official environmental and energy policies in China and energy related technological developments throughout the world. In English and China.

Goodwill China Business Information Ltd
Working with Mainland China customs, this site provides an authorized source of China's external trade data - detailed import and export data - via the World Wide Web and on CD-ROM. Web and digital publication are updated monthly; users can locate new suppliers and buyers, monitor competitors, analyze existing companies, evaluate market size and share, etc. Software and web-based applications allow users to search existing database of Chinese imports and exports, and generate custom reports on user-selected data. Guide to Doing Business in China
From the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, this guide contains information an entrepreneur needs to know about trading in China - from investment directions and practical procedures for establishing foreign invested enterprises to handling imports and exports, taxation, foreign exchange and hiring staff on the mainland.

I Capital
For a fee, this site provides statistical data on China from China's National Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Information Industry, as well as translations of documents normally only available in Chinese. Also provided, free of charge, are macro statistical summaries of a variety of economic data from several key provinces, regions and cities in Mainland China. English only.

Guide to sourcing products in China. Features a searchable database of Chinese suppliers in industrial & consumer product categories. Users can obtain price quotes & information on specific companies or products. Companies can register to be listed, and provide an online catalogue to their flagship products. Customizable content provided upon optional registration. National Committee on U.S.-China Relations
The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations is a non-profit educational organization that encourages understanding of China and the United States between citizens of both countries. The site contains a calendar of events, publications, and a Rule of Law Database. In English only.

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China
The Congressional-Executive Commission on China has added a new resource to its website: The PRC E-government Directory. The Directory provides contact information for the government of most PRC provinces and their capitals, as well as links to their websites and guides to locating resources on their websites. For convenience, the Directory is organized in drop-down menus and includes an interactive map. To view the Directory, please go to www.cecc.gov and click on the link on the left hand side of the page labeled "PRC E-Government Directory" or to click on the above link directly.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Provides current news and information on U.S. Chamber of Commerce policies, issues, and events. Also provides business resources. In English only.

U.S. -China Business Council
The U.S.-China Business Council is the principal organization of U.S. companies engaged in trade and investment in the People's Republic of China. Founded in 1973, the Council serves more than 250 corporate members through offices in Washington, D.C., Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Site contains many links to businesses in a wide range of sectors. In English only.

U.S. -China Commission (USCC)
Created by the Floyd D. Spence National Defense Authorization Act for 2001, the USCC "monitors, investigates, and reports to Congress on the national security implications of the bilateral trade and economic relationship between the United States and the People's Republic of China." Website includes annual reports, news releases, and hearing transcripts. In English only.

U.S. -China Education Foundation (USCEF)
The USCEF was founded to promote educational exchange between the United States and China. Their site has an online discussion forum, papers and reports on education, and a bookstore. In Chinese & English.

Asian Development Bank (ADB)
The ADB is a multilateral finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific. Their site has news updates on the development of topics such as AIDS, Environment, Gender and Development, Law and Policy Reform, and Poverty Reduction in Asia. In English only.

Asia Foundation
The Asia Foundation addresses issues such as "effective law, governance, and citizenship; open regional markets and local economic opportunities; equal partnership and participation of women in all levels of society; and peace and stability within the region" through programs, projects, and grants. Their site includes news, events, and publications from the foundation and a photo and media center. In English only.

Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
APEC is the primary international organization for promoting open trade and economic cooperation among 21 member 'economies' around the Pacific Rim. This site contains information about APEC and its members' economies. Includes an online library and database for APEC research. The United States APEC Index at http://www.apec.org/ explains why APEC is important to the United States. The APEC Tariff Database at http://www.apectariff.org/ requires registration in order to access the site. All three sites are in English only.

Asia Society
The Asia Society is an American institution dedicated to "[understanding] of Asia and communication between Americans and the peoples of Asia and the Pacific." The site includes a calendar of exhibitions and events, a tour of the Asia Society art collection, and resources to Asian countries, education, food, and business. In English only.

International Monetary Fund (IMF)
"The IMF is an international organization of 184 member countries. It was established to promote international monetary cooperation, exchange stability, and orderly exchange arrangements; to foster economic growth and high levels of employment; and to provide temporary financial assistance to countries to help ease balance of payments adjustment." The site includes current IMF events, sections on IMF Surveillance and Lending, IMF Finances, and a search of IMF information by country. In English only.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
The ISO is a non-governmental organization that "promotes the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity." Contains information on ISO basics, standards development, and ISO products and services. In English & French.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
The OECD is well-known for its publications and statistics, covering socioeconomic issues such as corruption, education, food safety, international migration, trade, etc. In English & French.

United Nations (UN)
The UN is composed of 191 countries committed to preserving peace through international cooperation and collective security. The site includes a Daily Briefing section, UN news, television, radio, and photos, and publications. In English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish.

U.S. Trade Representative (USTR)
The USTR is America's chief trade negotiator and the principal trade policy advisor to the President. The site covers hot trade topics and news, trade information by sectors and regions, and trade reports. In English only.

World Bank
The World Bank Group is one of the world's largest sources of development assistance. "It works in more than 100 developing economies with the primary focus of helping the poorest people and the poorest countries." The site includes information on countries and regions, data and statistics, and the World Bank's projects and policies. In English, Spanish, French, and Russian. Country-specific websites are available in their own languages as well.

World Trade Organization (WTO)
The WTO is the only international organization dealing with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible. The site includes sections on WTO News, Trade Topics, Resources, Documents, and Community/Forums. In English, Spanish, and French.

Cathay Net

CCTV
China and world news from CCTV television station. China coverage includes politics, finance, and social news. In Chinese & English.

ChinaBiz.org
Provides daily news and searchable archive of full-text articles on the latest stories in China's business world. Special focus is placed on content relating to information technology, logistics, finance, law, & human resources. Like most news sites, it offers a news-via-email subscription service.
