Dear Energy Committee Members,
We are delighted to have Professor George So, Vice President, China Energy Association, as our guest speaker at our Monday, March 15 meeting. He will discuss Reaching a Green Future: Thin Film PV Technology - an Idea for Implementation under the Innovation Circle in Hong Kong/Shenzhen.

DETAILS
The climate change issue has caused global warming and its effects resulted in dramatic consequences such as rising sea levels, tornados, floods, famine, methane being released from permafrost, among many others. The growth opportunity in the renewable energy sector is enormous, particularly in the areas of wind and solar power. Today, under the Hong Kong-Shenzhen innovation circle, both governments are attracting multinational hi-tech companies in an effort to create renewable energy hubs and to provide much needed green jobs.

Last year in August, Premier Wen Jiabao announced that he would take steps to curb the overcapacity and redundant investment in six industries - polysilicon used in the PV sectors are among one of them. The thin-film Photovoltaic technology has been recently compared to the traditonal polysilicon technology. In this presentation, we will explore the advantages of thin-film and its potential growth in the PV industry.
