Attn: News / Society Editors
Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, Francis Tam Pak Yuen, was the guest of honor for the first annual American Chamber of Commerce, Macau Chapter Ball held at the Wynn Macau Resort on Saturday (November 11).
Under the theme, “An Evening of Harmony,” the Ball paid homage to the cultural heritage of Macau and celebrated the legacy of Macau as the apex where Occidental and Oriental links were founded and have thrived for over 400 years.
US Consul General James B. Cunningham and Turner Broadcasting President and Managing Director, Steve Marcopoto, who is also this year’s AmCham Chairman, attended the gala event, which was attended by some 500 business and community leaders and friends from Macau, Hong Kong, US, Europe, Australia and the mainland.
Kicking off the festivities, Macau Ball Chairman Reggie Martin said, “The American Chamber of Commerce promotes interaction and opportunity among its members - alongside understanding and fun.”
Leading the toast for the spectacular evening was Macau Chapter Chairman Jose Tang, who saluted the “harmony of the people of Macau.”
Guests were later treated to the wonderful sights and sounds of Macau with several short films on Macau Heritage landmarks provided by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO). In addition to the magnificent ambience, An Evening of Harmony included lively dance music provided by the Sylvain Gagnon Quintet.
Mr. Marcopoto, speaking on the significance of the event, highlighted that the Macau Chapter had joined some “30 centers within the Asia-Pacific region and nearly a hundred cities around the world, as well as over 3,000 cities in the United States” that have American Chambers of Commerce committed to promoting trade and responsible investment.
The AmCham Macau Chapter aims to promote trade between America and the Pearl River Delta, with a focus on Macau.
