The Six Megatrends Shaping China

Jing Ulrich, Managing Director and Chairman, China Equities
JPMorgan

Financial Services Committee and China Business Committee

Jing Ulrich will address and answer the question everyone is asking - what are the key trends likely to influence China's future development? Jing identifies the six China megatrends that will substantially affect the country in the next 20-30 years, and will weigh how they will determine China's positioning as a global player.

Jing will explain how the radical change in Chinese demographics will contribute to the mainland experiencing cheap labor shortages, how the Chinese government is attempting to reverse environmental pollution, and why China's demand for grain is pushing up agricultural prices. Jing also will discuss the importance of record growth in productivity driving corporate profits, why there is a move from China importing to exporting capital and what will be the effect of the shifting balance between China's banks and capital markets.

Jing Ulrich joined JPMorgan in June 2005. She is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, corporate clients, and regulatory authorities in China on behalf of JPMorgan's equity product. Earlier, Jing was the managing director of Greater China Equities at Deutsche Bank, and spent eight years at CLSA and led what was then the most successful team covering the China market. Before joining the brokerage industry, Jing worked as a fund manager for greater China in Washington DC. She received a BA with honors from Harvard University and a MA from Stanford.

Jing has received numerous industry accolades for her work as a China watcher, bridging the cultural chasm that divides Western and Chinese societies. Global institutional investors frequently voted her the best China strategist in independent research polls of Institutional Investor, Asiamoney, and Euromoney.

In October 2006, Jing was named "Young Achiever of the Year" in the AmCham/SCMP "Women of Influence" award program.
