Please join us as we welcome Ms. Helga Ying, Senior Director of Worldwide Government Affairs and Public Policy, Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) to speak on Highlights of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations in Vietnam and the Apparel Industry’s Position from 5:00pm - 6:15pm on June 27, 2011.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Helga Ying
is Senior Director of Worldwide Government Affairs and Public Policy at Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.). In her position, Helga is the principal advisor and strategist for LS&Co. on government affairs and public policy. Her responsibilities include international trade and corporate citizenship (environmental sustainability, equality and social justice, HIV/AIDS, labor and worker rights), brand protection, and other issues that promote LS&Co.’s business success and social responsibility.

Helga is LS&Co.’s chief representative before all governmental bodies. She represents LS&Co. as an advisor to the U.S. government (Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Textiles and Apparel (ITAC-13) representative), the Vice Chairperson of the Government Relations Committee of the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA), and a member of the Board of Directors for the United States Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel (USA-ITA). She is also a member to the U.S. Cotton Board and a member of the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Business Council.

Prior to joining LS&Co., Helga served for four years as Program Manager and then Director of Member Services at Business for Social Responsibility (BSR). At BSR, she advised member companies on a range of corporate social responsibility issues, including community involvement, global and strategic philanthropy, human rights, volunteerism, and workplace diversity.

Helga was a member of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s staff, as a legislative assistant both in the Foreign Policy office and on the Labor and Human Resources Committee from 1993-1996. She also served for two years as an Associate Buyer for Dayton-Hudson Department Store Company.

Helga holds an M.A. in International Relations and Economics from The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. from Macalester College. She was also a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, studying business management and labor relations in 1989-1990.

* An email confirmation will be sent to the registered email address two (2) working days prior to the event. Online bookings will generate an automated confirmation via e-mail.
* Membership is on an individual basis. Non-members can only attend at non-member price.
* All cancellations must be notified in writing at least two working days prior to the event, or six working days prior to the conference. No-shows will be charged.
* Faxed or mailed booking forms received without payment (check/cash) will be considered void, unless valid credit card details are given as guarantee. If payment is not received by 5pm the day after the event, the credit card on file will be charged automatically.
* When Typhoon 8 (or above) or Black Rainstorm Signal is hoisted, all events will be cancelled.
