Hong Kong will undergo a metamorphosis over the next 10 years as major areas of our city are being (re-) built and new infrastructure is being added. Cruise terminals, new rail and MTR lines, airport expansion, new cultural venues and Government offices will reshape Tamar, Central Waterfront, Kai Tak, North Lantau, West Kowloon and Hung Hom. In addition, private- and government-led urban renewal will change the shape of our existing urban environments.
Paul Zimmerman, a founding member of Designing Hong Kong, takes a constructive look at the governance of the planning and implementation process, and the expected outcomes. Will you want to live here during construction? Will you want to live here when all is done? Paul is also the Convenor of Designing Hong Kong Harbour District and Vice-Chairman of the Coalition on Sustainable Tourism. He founded the Bridge Design, an identity and corporate literature design company in Hong Kong which he sold in 1998. In 2000, he founded The Experience Group, a consultancy advising business leaders on strategy and policy development. In 2003, Paul was appointed Executive Director of MF Jebsen International, an investment holding company with direct responsibility for MF Jebsen Automotive.
