Views on how Hong Kong can strengthen its stance on a low-carbon economy and engage business entities to participate in the changes.
The environmental aspirations of the people of Hong Kong have generated discussions on how Hong Kong can move towards a low-carbon economy, and what role business — and the power industry in particular — can play in the transition. CLP Power Managing Director Richard Lancaster will share his perspectives on the opportunities and challenges that will emerge during the transition, as well as CLP’s Energy Vision, the Company’s strategic roadmap for clean power generation for Hong Kong. He will discuss the four core pillars of the roadmap:
·strengthening infrastructure integration between Hong Kong and the Mainland;
·adopting a cleaner fuel mix, including more use of gas and nuclear and reducing the use of coal;
·developing renewable energy sources; and
·promoting energy efficiency solutions.
Mr. Lancaster will also brief the audience the role of nuclear for carbon reduction in Hong Kong for the next decade.
Mr. Richard Lancaster is the Managing Director for CLP Power with the overall responsibility for CLP’s electricity operations in Hong Kong including power generation, supply and service to over 5.7 million people in Kowloon and the New Territories.
