From: Robert Chipman, AmCham Governor and
Transportation & Logistics Committee Chair
Fifteen years ago, Hong Kong was the dominant container port in South China. To all intents and purposes, it was the only container port in South China. However, the Mainland competitor ports have made dramatic strides in the intervening years enjoying a rapid pace of development and rising throughput - a key role being played by international port operators bringing world-class operating standards to green-field port developments.
Within this context, Jonathan will review the supply of port and related infrastructure in the South China region and evaluate the impact on Hong Kong and regional supply chain development.
Dr Jonathan Beard has led or contributed to many port, airport and related logistics consultancy studies, including strategy development and master-planning, for a variety of public and private sector clients. He has managed a number of prominent port assignments in China and Asia-Pacific. Jonathan has also been retained by the Airport Authority Hong Kong for a number of years, advising the Board and senior management on the Master Plan 2025, benchmarking and competitiveness strategies. He is a Certified Management Consultant and President of the Hong Kong Institute of Management Consultants, and holds a BA, MA and PhD from Cambridge University.
