As we enter 2011, Dr. Olin Liu will provide an overview of China’s anticipated strategies for economic development, growth targets and reforms, specifically in line with the US economy. She will discuss the following: · The global economic environment and the three key issues and risks affecting the Chinese economy; · How to assess the outlook of China’s monetary policy (including the recent rate hike); · The impact of the US QE2 on Hong Kong and China, and how this will affect the real effective exchange rate competitiveness between the HKD and RMB; · How the US can get out of its fiscal and debt issues and what the associated impact on China will be.
Dr. Olin Liu is the Executive Director of the Research Department at CICC. Prior to this position, she served as Deputy Division Chief, Asia and Pacific Department/ Mission Chief/ Senior Economist/ Economist at the International Monetary Fund from 1994 to 2008. Her past experience also includes Lecturer and Teaching Assistant at Boston College and in offshore oil services as Chief Accountant at Schlumberger.
