U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President Myron Brilliant will discuss the Obama administration’s trade agenda in Asia, focusing on the state of U.S.-China trade and commercial relations. In particular, he will share his perspectives on President Hu Jintao’s visit to the United States in January and what the visit means for U.S.-China commercial engagement.
Mr. Brilliant will also discuss his views of the new U.S. Congress and how it will impact trade with Asia broadly and China specifically as well as the possible congressional vote on the U.S. Korea free trade agreement, progress in the negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and the U.S. agenda for hosting APEC this year.
Mr. Myron Brilliant is senior vice president for International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he is responsible for driving the global business strategy of the organization. He represents the Chamber and its members before foreign governments and business leaders and oversees the largest international affairs team in Washington, D.C.
Brilliant previously served as the Chamber’s vice president for Asia. In that role, he significantly expanded the staff, reach, and impact of the Chamber’s Asia policy program. He led several broad-based business coalitions working on strengthening U.S.-China relations and promoting free trade agreements with Singapore, Australia, and South Korea. Washingtonian magazine in January 2007 dubbed Brilliant a key player in its “Who’s Who Guide” of influential leaders on U.S.-China economic policy. He is frequently quoted in the media and is a regular guest on CNBC, CNN, and other news programs.
