In 2013, AmCham led a delegation of senior executives to Yangon to understand more about the investment climate with specific topics related to the infrastructure, apparel, footwear & textile, financial services, telecom industries. Delegates met with government officials, local and expatriate business leaders at meetings of various formats. Following U.S. President Barack Obama's executive order lifting US sanctions against Myanmar on October 7, 2016, many US companies have identified this an opportunity for their businesses to move forward with transactions involving their Burmese counterparts. AmCham is currently planning a fact-finding mission to Yangon in 2017.
