Trade & Investment

Trade & Investment acts as a focal point for members’ concerns regarding Hong Kong and regional trade and investment issues. The committee hosts programs that inform the membership and stimulate thoughtful action regarding trade, investment and competitiveness issues. It also acts as a clearing house and active action agent for trade and investment issues that are of common concern to more than one of the Chamber’s sector specific committees.

Shadow Economy Working Group

The committee sets up the Shadow Economy Working Group to address serious illicit trade issues through a coalition of stakeholders from businesses, experts, NGOs, media and law enforcement agencies. SESC has three workstreams:

  • Human Trafficking and Anti-Money Laundering
  • Secure, Efficient and Transparent Supply Chain
  • Intellectual Property Rights Protection & Illicit Trade

The key for SESC to be successful is to draw upon the knowledge and experience of our stakeholders to build best practices and provide practical solutions for each of the workstreams. Advocacy is of critical importance as well to bring about long-term legislative and regulatory changes. The Shadow Economy Working Group leaders include:

  • Co-Chair: Amita Haylock, Partner, Mayer Brown
