Jota Shohtoku is Head of Asia Pacific for Allied World.  He is responsible for growing a sustainable and profitable general insurance business across all product lines and distribution channels across Allied World’s five platforms in the Asia Pacific region; Hong Kong, Singapore, Lloyd’s Singapore, Australia and Labuan. 

Prior to joining Allied World in 2010, Jota held various underwriting and senior management positions at AIG both in the US and internationally. Over a career spanning almost 20 years, he has been responsible for underwriting and managing portfolios across different products line in the consumer and commercial segments of general insurance. 

Jota has contributed as a conference speaker and on task forces globally, including the FT Insurance Summit, HKFI Task Force on Employees’ Compensation, Strategic Risk Forum, United Nations Environment Programme Biodiversity Challenge Conference, the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development’s Task Force on Economic Instruments for Energy Efficiency as well as the Environment and the Opportunity & Private Fund Forum on Urban Rejuvenation and Brownfields.  He is a strong advocate for sustainable practices across industries, to reduce the environmental impact for future generations and consequently, the risks faced by customers and communities.  

Jota earned a Master of Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Environmental) from the University of Edinburgh.
